It's difficult for the Australian squad to break new ground.

The highest peaks have been successfully scaled.

We're talking about the team that has secured seven Cricket World Cups, along with an additional six T20 titles, and once went nearly four years undefeated in 50-over cricket.

The secondary achievements, targeted by the peak baggers, are all that remain for a squad that has accomplished all there is.

It needed until Sunday's victory by three wickets over India for them to complete their first ODI chase exceeding 300, regaining their record for the biggest in the women's 50-over format, is, frankly, a testament to the pitchers that have represented Australia over the past 50 years.

It is hard for their batsmen to maintain a record if not afforded the possibility.

Ultimately, the result of Australia giving up 330 runs was captain Alyssa Healy getting a platform to create her most recent brilliance.

Initially recognized as the 19-year-old niece of celebrated previous Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she debuted in 2010 after Australia didn't secure either of the T20 or ODI World Cups conducted earlier and has experienced everything through 15 championship-filled years since.

A T20 World Cup win happened three months after her first appearance and seven global championships have resulted from 10 tries across formats.

The tough gloveman was in attendance in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final setback by India momentarily interrupted the run of success.

That loss "pushed us to reconsider our benchmarks," Healy said this week.

At the subsequent ODI World Cup in New Zealand, Healy hit 170 against England in the final and was awarded tournament MVP. She made sure her country would not fail again.

The question of whether this newest brilliant performance exceeded that prior achievement is debatable.

Certain people claim the case for championship match pressure. Some might respond with the difficulty that comes when confronting a historic chase and a loud pro-India audience of 20,000.

What's definite is this century was far harder to anticipate.

The Christchurch carnage in 2022 happened while she led the batting statistics, but this innings came after six matches in India since the start of last month in which she had been unable to reach 30.

"If you've observed me in the nets, it was a challenging time because I feel like my form was missing whatsoever," stated Healy.

She achieved fifty in 35 pitches - her swiftest at a World Cup - and her ton in 84 balls as she attacked short-pitched balls, scoring 21 fours and three maximums.

When she was out Australia needed 66 more at one run per ball - an unconquered height now requiring a leisurely stroll.

"Pursuing 330 is unfamiliar ground so I'm pleased we have the belief to achieve that now," stated Healy further.

"Hopefully we don't have to do it another time but, if we do, we believe we can do it."

These statements will be the ultimate thing rival teams at this championship should hear.

Over the past five days a belief they will succeed regardless of circumstances has become more firm - this victory coming after victory over Pakistan by 107 runs despite being 76-7 at one point.

Subsequently Australia meet Bangladesh before a match against old rivals England in Indore in ten days, by which point a semi-final berth may well be secure.

It was at that stage they exited the previous year's T20 World Cup in a surprising setback by South Africa - a match Healy missed because of ruptured tissue in her foot as she guided Australia for the inaugural occasion at a major tournament.

So strong is her resolve, she subsequently stated she regretted not playing despite the injury.

Yet even as she afterwards confessed those injuries have pushed back consideration of ending her career, this World Cup is anticipated as her concluding event as leader in ODI cricket and she is still to achieve a global event as leader.

Triumph in India would take her to the summit of her ultimate challenge.
