Automobiles in German City Discovered Smeared with Swastikas in Blood, Police State

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Law Enforcement
Authorities reported they were contacted by a resident who discovered a vehicle in Hanau smeared with reddish liquid

Roughly 50 vehicles have been smeared with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's town of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, police confirm police.

Vehicles, building surfaces and mailboxes were defaced, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they reported in a release.

Law enforcement say they were alerted late on Wednesday night, when a individual discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been covered with a reddish fluid.

The substance had been drawn in the pattern of a banned symbol, they reported.

Law enforcement then discovered numerous other vandalized automobiles and building exteriors in the adjacent neighborhood.

These symbols are banned in Germany under regulations banning the public display of symbols from the Nazi era.

Police say initial examinations show the liquid was probably human blood.

"At present there remains no indication as to its origin; authorities are not yet aware of any harm in relation with the incident," they stated.

Municipal representatives said they were trying "to unravel the mystery" and have asked to the public for tips.

A high-ranking official said the incident left him stunned and had to be solved rapidly.

"This act strikes at the very heart of Hanau and revives the trauma of the extremist attack half a decade ago," he wrote on social media, mentioning the killing of nine victims by a shooter focusing on people of migrant background in February 2020.
