AC Shadows Unveils Bizarre Attack on Titan Crossover for Thanksgiving
In a unexpected crossover event that challenges traditional expectations, the game developer has unveiled an in-game crossover between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the renowned anime series Attack on Titan. The unusual holiday event operates from November 25 through December 22, providing free extra story content for Shadows players.
Strange Mission Disclosed
According to the authorized release, "An unusual meeting pulls characters Naoe and Yasuke into a original mission, where whispers of banned practices and monstrous changes resonate through the obscurity." The narrative features a "unusually garbed woman named Ada" who tasks the characters with journeying into the Crystalline Cavern—a significant location from Attack on Titan—to liberate her ally from a clandestine sect.
The adventure centers on "peculiar tests and a fearsome adversary" and is available to all players who have acquired the Yasuke character.
Familiar Locations and Metamorphoses
The trailer features the Hidden Temple from Attack on Titan reimagined as the Crystal Cave. This significant location was previously where the Reiss royal family transmitted the Founding Titan ability through ages. The preview concludes with a dramatic sequence showing a character, presumably the captive, morphing into a Titan that rises over Naoe and Yasuke.
Exclusive Rewards and Extra Features
Players who successfully complete the quest will receive an exclusive katana alongside numerous items concealed throughout the area in secret chests. The update also contains in-store Attack on Titan item packs, offering:
- Titan-based costume for Yasuke
- Mikasa attire for Naoe
- Special weapons
- Survey Corps steed
Latest Free Story Content
This release also adds the game's latest complimentary story episode, titled "A Puzzlement." This lighthearted adventure teams Naoe and Yasuke as they trade characteristic abilities: Naoe introduces a theatrical interpretation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke masters non-lethal stealth takedowns. True to its name, "The Enigma" also contains a fresh environmental puzzle that may finally explain some lingering questions from the main storyline.
Previous Anime Collaborations
This marks hardly the primary time the Assassin's Creed franchise has collaborated with well-known anime properties. The series earlier featured a 2020 crossover story connecting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Moreover, Valhalla unofficially contained a quest that obviously echoed the popular series One-Punch Man.
